چکیده
K. Gawdzińska, Maritive University of Szczecin, Szczecin, Poland The paper presents the study of the metallic-ceramic composite foams (the AlSi9 matrix, the SiC reinforcement) with application of the computer microtomograph. The morphology of these materials was also described in the paper, as well as generation of the three-dimensional models of the entire samples of foam. Additionally, quantitative image analysis was performed and the porosity of the test samples (with 3D analysis) and pore size distribution in the tested foams with different densities (with 2D analysis) was determined.

Shear Bond Strength of Metallic and Ceramic Brackets Bonded with Two-step and Three-step Light Cure Adhesives
Background and purpose: The bonding process is highly important in orthodontic treatment for its fast speed. The purpose of this study was to compare the shear bond strength of ceramic and metallic brackets between three stage (transbondTM XT) and two stage (GC ortho connectTM) light cure composites. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, 80 maxillary and mandibular first and sec...
متن کاملFabrication of ferrous metallic foams by reduction of ceramic foam precursors
A process has been developed for obtaining closed cell metallic foams using a ceramic foam precursor. In the present study, the major constituent of the ceramic foam precursor was iron oxide (Fe2O3), which was mixed with various foaming/setting additives. The mixture set rapidly at room temperature, stabilizing the foam generated by hydrogen release. The oxide foam was then reduced by annealing...
متن کاملDensity-Graded Cellular Aluminum
Conventional metallic foam processing seeks to maximize uniformity in pore size, relative density, and other aspects of foam structure in order to minimize property variation associated with the statistical nature of foams, and thereby increase their reliability in service. However, property uniformity is in many cases an inefficient approach to meeting overall design criteria, as demonstrated ...
متن کاملCytotoxicity and Genotoxicity Evaluation of Fluorapatite/bioactive Glass Nanocomposite Foams With Two Various Weight Ratios as Bone Tissue Scaffold: an in vitro study
The optimization of biomaterials’ biodegradation rate similar to tissue regeneration, is one of the main goals of tissue engineering. However, the necessity to assess their possible toxicity is always considered. The aim of this study was cytotoxicity and genotoxicity evaluation of fluorapatite/bioactive glass (FA/BG) nanocomposite foams with two various weight ratios to determine the optimal c...
متن کاملSimulation of Foaming and Deformation for Composite Aluminum Foams
In this study, at the first stage, the rupture criterion of bubbles wall in Aluminum metal foam liquid was investigated by using Lattice Boltzmann. The two phases modeling were accomplished by using a modified Shan-Chen model. This model was run for several bubbles in A356+3wt.%SiC melt system. Then, bubbles morphologies (virtual metallographic) for A356+3wt.%SiC foams were simulated. Results s...
